CAREER SPECIALIZATIONS

STEP ONE

Choose a primary Career Specialization. The primary Career Specializations will often be the Professional Accountant Career Specialization or Financial Markets Career Specialization, and sometimes it will be the Entrepreneurial Mindset Career Specialization or the Sustainability Career Specialization.

STEP TWO

Consider using remaining electives to combine your primary Career Specialization with a second one in order to develop breadth of expertise or connect your accounting, finance, and business analysis know-how with studies in another field at UWaterloo.

STEP THREE

Consider exploring co-op and co-/extra-curricular activities related to your academic choices to test out ideas, build your network and launch your career.

Prof. Blake Phillips discusses the importance of Career Specializations on AFM READY.

Rocky, AFM Student

“The flexibility around picking the desired courses to design and pursue more than one career specialization allows me to pave a path in both public accounting and financial markets, which is an advantage I would not likely get anywhere else.”
