As the COVID-19 pandemic continued, and library staff focused on supporting “anywhere, anytime” learning and research that was safe, consistent and equitable for all users, there were also many milestones this past year.
The Library special collections got a little older with the addition of an illuminated vellum manuscript leaf from a Book of Hours. This small but beautiful leaf comes from northern France and dates from the 1460s.
Nearly 100 participants gathered virtually to get a behind-the-curtain look at how the Library operates and its ever-critical role in teaching, learning, research and the Waterloo journey.
Nineteen Waterloo programs were funded through the Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities (MCU) $50 million investment in virtual learning. The Library is leading three of these projects, in the areas of open access, academic integrity and information literacy.
Waterloo researchers publishing open access articles can now save significant processing charges with the signing of three new agreements with Sage, PLOS Medicine and Biology, and Cogitatio Press.
Library users now have expanded access to a collection of nearly 23.5 million resources from 16 partner libraries through the integrated search tool, Omni.
