Co-delivered by 11 departments and schools from across all six faculties, the Collaborative Water Program (CWP) is the most interdisciplinary water graduate program in Canada. Co-ordinated and supported by the Water Institute, the CWP encourages students to push the boundaries of their research and discover innovative ways to work across disciplines to address water challenges.

CONNECTING

WATER STUDENTS

The Society of the Water Institute Graduate Students (SWIGS) connects water students from across the University of Waterloo campus who embrace and value an interdisciplinary approach to learning. SWIGS expands networks and provides academic, social and community outreach programming, including Water and You where local primary school students are invited to submit artwork to express what water means to them.

INAUGURAL JOHN PARISH

MEMORIAL GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

In 2022, the Water Institute was proud to announce the John Parish Memorial Scholarship program established by friends and family in John’s memory. Mr. Parish, a University of Waterloo alumni, was a pioneer of fluvial geomorphology. Ph.D. candidate Rafaela de Freitas Maltauro was awarded the inaugural annual scholarship.

TRAINING FOR RESEARCH IMPACT

The Water Institute WaterLeadership professional development program delivered its third annual series of training sessions helping students and faculty develop research impact skills to help catalyze knowledge into action.
