PURPOSEFUL CURIOSITY LEADS CANADA INTO THE QUANTUM AGE

It is my pleasure to share with you the 2021 Quantum Impact Report, highlighting the successes and research advancements of our faculty members, postdoctoral fellows, and students over the last year. We have made great strides to further advance quantum information in ways that will help to shape a better world.

Research at IQC explores many avenues of quantum information and is fundamentally interdisciplinary, spanning theory, experiment, and applications of quantum information. As you will discover while reading our researcher stories, at the roots of our research lies purposeful curiosity. Our researchers explore how and why things work, and where they can find impact: in healthcare and medicine, communications and security, computing, and entrepreneurship.

“IQC, together with our partners, will continue to play a pivotal role in leading Canada into the quantum age.”

We are committed to fostering a welcoming environment and community for all people who engage in our mission to advance quantum information. The work conducted at IQC will inspire the next generation and transform Canadian’s lives. As we continue to advance, IQC will push the boundaries of what quantum technologies can do for our future.

I am excited for the coming years and the opportunity to build on our strong history—and am confident that IQC, together with our partners, will continue to play a pivotal role in leading Canada into the quantum age.

OUR MISSION

  • To generate ideas, train people, provide resources, and form partnerships to drive the continued advancement of quantum information technology.

OUR STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES

  • To develop transformative technologies, from ideas to commercialization, through research in theory, experiment and quantum applications.
  • To develop partnerships and serve as an impartial point of contact for the emerging quantum industry, amplifying the societal impact of quantum discoveries and research.
  • To train the next generation of quantum workers and leaders, enabling the next quantum revolution.
