ADMISSIONS

IT’S WORTH THE WAIT!

We take the time to learn more about you. SAF programs may use the AIF as part of our decision-making process. See the Admission Requirements section for more details. For AFM and SFM applicants, your AFMAA online interview and trait assessment are also factored into your admission decision. That’s why SAF applicants often have to wait a little longer for their Offer of Admission. The majority of admission offers are made in May.

HOW TO APPLY

  1. Apply online by February through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC).
  2. Watch for an acknowledgment email with your Waterloo ID number.
  3. AFM and SFM applicants will receive additional emails providing details and links for the AFMAA.
  4. Follow the instructions in your AFM or SFM emails and submit the AIF and AFMAA by February.
  5. Submit required documents by February.
  6. Accept your Offer of Admission through OUAC and submit your Residence Community Ranking Form with a deposit by June.

THE AFMAA

The AFM Admissions Assessment (AFMAA) is a required online assessment (additional fee required) that AFM and SFM applicants complete after submission of their application. The AFMAA consists of an online interview and an online trait assessment. It’s simple and should take you 20 to 50 minutes to complete both components. How you respond will give us a better sense of who you are.

The AFMAA interview questions, setup instructions, and tips can be found online.

FINANCING YOUR EDUCATION

Your university education is one of the most important investments you’ll ever make. As with other professional programs, tuition fees for SAF programs increase after the first year. Take the time to prepare a realistic budget to understand all the resources available to you.

THE CO-OP ADVANTAGE

In addition to the valuable experience and networks you’ll develop throughout your academic career, co-op earnings can go a long way to help finance your education.

Estimate your first-year costs (including residence, meal plans, or living off campus) and resources using the student budget calculator.
