Susan Uthayakumar, MAcc ’95

For Susan, sustainability has long been a passion and being appointed president of Schneider Electric’s Global Sustainability Business Division was a natural fit. Susan believes that sustainability is not just a trend and climate change is not an “if” but a “when”. “At Schneider, we take sustainability very seriously. When you are conscientious about your emissions, that means you are using your resources optimally. That means fewer resources and less cost.”

Waterloo’s School of Accounting and Finance holds the highest level of national accreditation from CPA Canada.

Chartered Professional Accountants (CPAs) of the future will need to be conversant in natural systems and social impacts as financial outcomes to lead the change in reporting environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors.

The SFM (pending approval), AFM, and CFM programs are recognized under the CFA University Affiliation program.

Chartered Financial Analysts (CFAs) will need to understand sustainability disclosures and be accountable for portfolio returns. Capital market perceptions of sustainability will move stock prices just as fast as financial factors. Sustainability factors will be central influence in raising capital for a firm.
