Operating at the boundaries of knowledge, SAF’s action centres will combine research, teaching and service in a virtuous cycle. Centre for Taxation in a Global Economy
With one of the largest numbers of active tax researchers and full-time teaching faculty in the world, SAF is the obvious choice to forge ties across academia and industry. The Centre for Taxation in a Global Economy provides a bridge between tax researchers and practitioners to advance our policies with the latest research findings and insight.
In support of this professional outreach, the Centre hosts annual symposia with academic and industry partners. It also publishes findings with organizations such as the C.D. Howe Institute and the Canadian Tax Foundation to bring the latest research to light.
To inspire the next generation of tax professionals, the Centre raises the standard of education in Canada. Faculty members collaborate with industry sponsors to identify the skills new graduates need to thrive, and they support members of the Young Tax Professionals action centre as program leaders and mentors. The Centre also engages the broader educational community by hosting a national conference for tax professors. Together, they explore new teaching methods and technologies to train future leaders in their field.
