ALUMNI EXCELLENCE ENDOWMENT FUND

The SAF Alumni Excellence Endowment Fund provides the financial flexibility that is critical to SAF’s future, ensuring the School can undertake new initiatives and respond effectively to rapid change. The Fund provides a range of ever-evolving experiential learning opportunities that engage students, harness their passion, develop their skills and integrate their studies.

BACHELOR OF SUSTAINABILITY AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

This collaboration with the Faculty of Environment is the only one of its kind in Canada. The Sustainability and Financial Management program is strategically designed to meet current and growing labour market demands in the fields of sustainable finance and accounting. Students learn how to align environmental responsibility with profits, using environmental, social and governance reporting to drive policy- and decision-making for long-term success.

FACULTY FELLOWSHIPS, LECTURESHIPS AND PROFESSORSHIPS

The University of Waterloo owes much of its reputation to the quality of its professors. Fellowships, Lectureships and Professorships recognize outstanding leadership contributions of faculty that address the School’s research activities and strategic priorities.

INTERNATIONAL STUDY PROGRAM

This program allows upper-year students to meet with professionals in international business centers, in person and/or virtually, to learn about best practices and the challenges that affect global organizations. Students gain insight into the business operations of multi-national firms, as well as the perspectives of business executives across multiple industries in the private and public sectors.

SAF WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP

Support will empower young women to focus on their studies and develop their skills with confidence, allowing them to make a positive impact while bridging the gender gap in their fields. Encouraging women to thrive at this stage of their education will set them on a path towards leadership positions that will enable them to become game changers and role models for future generations.

SCHOLARSHIPS (UNDERGRADUATE, GRADUATE, PHD)

Scholarships and awards recognize student achievements, reward talented students for their accomplishments and provide financial support to help with educational expenses. A greater number of awards and scholarships will allow more students to focus on their studies by relieving some of their financial stress. This support will enable students to immerse themselves in their educational experiences and get the most out of their time at Waterloo.

STUDENT INVESTMENT FUND

The Student Investment Fund provides a bridge between the theory of academia and the practical workings of capital markets. It equips students with hands-on training in equity valuation and portfolio management with guidance from industry experts and supervision by finance faculty. The students invest in a broadly diversified portfolio of Canadian and US equities that may provide capital gains and/or income.

STUDENT VENTURE FUND

Coordinated with the Conrad School of Entrepreneurship and Business, the Student Venture Fund provides hands-on training in venture capital investing. Students receive guidance from finance faculty as well as seasoned investors and entrepreneurs. Participants learn about the investing process from both sides of the venture capital deal and make informed choices to expand the SVF portfolio.

SUSTAINABILITY AND GOVERNANCE FUND

This fund supports academic programs and activities that promote environmental, social and governance (ESG) development. It will produce internationally recognized specialists in accounting, finance and sustainable management systems, and apply insights through community engagement.

UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO FINANCIAL LITERACY COMPETITION

This program led by SAF provides high school teachers with resources to encourage their students to participate in the Financial Literacy Competition. Held twice per year, the competition enhances students’ knowledge of important financial topics including banking, investments, credit, home ownership, fraud awareness and post-secondary education financing.
